The more "user friendly" the cell phones become, the more tempting it is to pick  it up and use it while driving a car. At 60 miles an hour a car is traveling 88 feet per SECOND. That's right! So in a little over 3 seconds(the time it takes to read one line of text) a car will travel the length of a football field. Tragically every day in the United States lives are lost and/or permanently changed due to texting while driving. It is such a common event that as a matter of routine, we subpoena cell phone records from the offending driver to determine whether cell phones were being used at the time of the collision.  It only takes one second on inattentiveness to take a life. The laws are gradually changing to recognize this fact. The problem is so serious that car manufacturers are considering taking steps in new vehicles to preclude the use of a cell phone while the vehicle is in most. The best step, of course, is to refrain from texting or read text message while you are driving.
